Va Cave was discovered in 1992 by Mr. Ho Khanh (a local resident) during a trip to the forest. The cave was then surveyed and measured by experts from the Cave Exploration Team in 2012. Va Cave is about 1.7km long, located more than 50m from the back entrance of Son Doong Cave (the world's largest cave). Scientists believe that the two caves are connected, once shared geological faults and belonged to the same ecosystem. To reach the cave, visitors must travel through bumpy, slippery roads, wade through streams, weave through caves and trek through forests (photo: Oxalis Adventure).

This cave is highly appreciated by experts for its rare uniqueness. Va Cave possesses thousands of cone-shaped stalactites or cone towers (stalagmites), up to 2m high, growing straight from the surface of the underground lake - a special, rare stalactite structure that almost does not appear in any other cave in the world .

The water in Va Cave is as clear as jade, creating small lakes in the middle of the cave floor. Explorers discovered that Va Cave has many underground rivers several hundred meters long, formed by natural flows under the limestone cave.

In the underground river, scientists have discovered many special species of creatures, notably the blind fish Speolabeo hokhanhi. This fish species was discovered by researcher Nguyen Dinh Tao and his colleagues in 2014. Notably, they are only recorded living in the underground river system of Va Cave and Son River - a narrow, endemic and very rare distribution range.

The experience of exploring Va Cave requires visitors to wade through streams, climb cliffs, climb ropes, squeeze through narrow passages and cross high corridors with a harness. This is truly a challenging but also extremely attractive geomorphological adventure, for those who love exploring pristine and adventurous nature.

It is known that since 2016, Chua Me Dat Company Limited - Oxalis Adventure is the only unit licensed by the People's Committee of Quang Binh province and the Management Board of Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park to exploit adventure tourism and explore Va cave. To be able to operate, this unit must fully meet strict safety requirements and commit to strictly comply with regulations on ecosystem conservation in the core heritage area.
