According to the special correspondent of VNA, on the afternoon of August 7 (local time), within the framework of his state visit to the Republic of Angola, President Luong Cuong visited the headquarters of the Angolan National Assembly.

After delivering a policy speech at the Special Plenary Session of the Angolan Parliament held during the visit, the President met with President of the Angolan Parliament Carolina Cerqueira.

At the meeting, National Assembly Chairwoman Carolina Cerqueira welcomed President Luong Cuong and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation to visit the National Assembly headquarters, the democratic home of Angola; emphasizing that Vietnam is a friend who is always in the heart of Angola, and that President Luong Cuong's visit is a message of friendship built on the basis of mutual respect and cooperation for mutual development.

National Assembly Chairwoman Carolina Cerqueira thanked President Luong Cuong for his important policy speech expressing Vietnam's vision of an open, diversified, multilateral foreign policy, determined to elevate cooperative relations with Angola in particular and Africa in general.

Expressing his admiration for Vietnam's socio-economic development achievements, the President of the Angolan National Assembly expressed his belief that the visit would open a new chapter, further deepening bilateral cooperation; at the same time, he wished to promote cooperation with the Vietnamese National Assembly, together with government agencies to promote the completion of the legal framework for bilateral cooperation, promote exchanges between groups of young parliamentarians and female parliamentarians, contributing to promoting cooperation in the fields of science-technology, culture, and people-to-people exchange, etc.

President Luong Cuong was delighted to visit Angola for the first time on the occasion of the two countries celebrating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations, and thanked the President, National Assembly deputies and Angolan people for the warm welcome given to the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation.

Expressing his honor to visit and deliver a policy speech before the Plenary Session of the Angolan National Assembly, the President said that this is an important occasion for Vietnam to share with Angolan and international friends about Vietnam's development orientation, views on the world and regional situation, and directions for developing Vietnam-Angola relations after 50 years of establishing diplomatic relations.

Appreciating the important role and contributions of the Angolan National Assembly in the outstanding achievements that Angola has made in recent times as well as in promoting bilateral relations, the President emphasized that Angola is a leading important partner, a comrade and brother of Vietnam in Africa and expressed his wish to open a new stage of development in both quality and quantity to build the Vietnam-Angola "cooperative partnership for mutual development" relationship to become a model for South-South cooperation.

Agreeing with the proposals of the President of the Angolan National Assembly on enhancing the role of the two countries' National Assemblies in the overall bilateral relationship, President Luong Cuong suggested that the two countries' National Assemblies increase contacts, delegation exchanges, exchanges, and experience sharing between specialized committees and National Assembly deputies of the two countries, promote the establishment of the Vietnam-Angola Friendship Parliamentarians' Group, and enhance coordination and consultation at multilateral parliamentary forums such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the Global Forum of Young Parliamentarians.

President Luong Cuong and the Chairman of the Angolan National Assembly also agreed to continue to strengthen political trust, exchange high-level delegations through various channels, including the parliamentary channel, create favorable legal conditions to support bilateral cooperation and promote the implementation of signed cooperation agreements, speed up the negotiation of a number of important and fundamental documents in the fields of investment, trade, oil and gas, energy, mining, agriculture, banking, etc.

On this occasion, President Luong Cuong conveyed the regards and invitation of Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man to Angolan National Assembly Chairwoman Carolina Cerqueira to visit Vietnam soon. Angolan National Assembly Chairwoman Carolina Cerqueira thanked him and happily accepted the invitation./.
