With an undefeated record after 9 games (6 wins, 3 draws) in the rapid chess event, Lai Ly Huynh successfully defended the gold medal in the rapid chess event. In addition to 1 gold medal, 1 silver medal of Lai Ly Huynh, the Vietnamese chess team also won a silver medal in the men's team (Lai Ly Huynh, Nguyen Minh Nhat Quang), a silver medal in the women's team (Nguyen Hoang Yen, Le Thi Kim Loan), and a bronze medal in the men's rapid chess (Nguyen Minh Nhat Quang). In the youth category, the Vietnamese chess team won a gold medal in the U.12 women's category with Tran Nguyen Minh Hang and a bronze medal in the U.12 men's category with Le The Bao.

Vietnam chess team at the 2023 world championship

The 2023 World Chess Championship in Texas (USA) attracted the participation of 70 players from 13 countries and territories. The Vietnamese chess team was led by Mr. Hoang Dinh Hong, coach Diep Khai Nguyen and players Lai Ly Huynh, Nguyen Minh Nhat Quang (male), Nguyen Hoang Yen, Le Thi Kim Loan (female). The young players included Phan Huy Hoang, Ngo Xuan Gia Huy, Khuu Nhat Phi, Dinh Tran Thanh Lam, Ngo Ho Thanh Truc, Nguyen Hoang My, Le The Bao, Tran Nguyen Minh Nhat, Do Pham Nhat Minh, Tran Nguyen Minh Hang and Do Nguyen Lan Anh.
