Today, the Vietnam U.21 women's volleyball team entered the U.21 World Women's Volleyball Championship, facing the host team U.21 Indonesia. This is the first time Vietnam has had a representative participating in a tournament at the world youth level. This achievement was achieved thanks to coach Nguyen Trong Linh and his team's excellent 5th place overall at the 2024 U.20 Asian Championship.

The 2025 U.21 Volleyball World Cup has 24 participating teams, including very strong teams such as U.21 China, U.21 Italy, U.21 Brazil, U.21 USA, U.21 Türkiye, U.21 Japan... The teams are divided into 4 groups (each group has 6 teams), competing in a round robin to select the 4 teams with the best results of the 4 groups (a total of 16 teams) to enter the knockout round. The U.21 Vietnam women's team is in group A with host Indonesia, Argentina, Serbia, Puerto Rico and Canada. Coach Nguyen Trong Linh commented that in this group, U.21 Serbia and U.21 Argentina are considered to be better than the other teams. U.21 Vietnam competes for the top 4 of the group stage with 3 teams U.21 Canada, U.21 Puerto Rico and U.21 Indonesia.

What did the coach of the Vietnam U.21 women's volleyball team say?

"The U.21 Vietnam team does not have much experience compared to its opponents due to the lack of international competition. The goal of the whole team is that each player, when given the opportunity to play, needs to maximize their abilities, limit mistakes and make the most of the opportunities they have. Competing with strong opponents is a valuable opportunity for the players to learn, hone their skills and battle experience," said coach Nguyen Trong Linh.

The U.21 Vietnam team brought 12 players to Indonesia, including bright faces such as Dang Thi Hong, Pham Quynh Huong, Nguyen Phuong Quynh, Le Nhu Anh. The 19-year-old talent Dang Thi Hong with her good jumping ability and effective attack is compared to Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen in the Vietnam women's team. The hitter who was called up by coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet to this team promises to be the number 1 attacker in the U.21 Vietnam team. In addition, hitter Pham Quynh Huong is only 17 years old but has a "huge" height of 1.87 m and also has the ability to attack very well at high altitudes in the U.21 Vietnam shirt.

After nearly a day of traveling from Vietnam to the competition venue in Surabaya (Indonesia), yesterday the U.21 Vietnam women's team had an important training session to get used to the competition conditions. At 7 p.m. today, Dang Thi Hong and her teammates will compete with the U.21 Indonesia team. This team has been carefully prepared with a long-term training process, competing against many domestic and international opponents, and has home field advantage, so it promises to cause difficulties for the U.21 Vietnam team.

After the match with U.21 Indonesia, the U.21 Vietnam team will meet U.21 Serbia (August 8), U.21 Canada (August 9), U.21 Argentina (August 11) and U.21 Puerto Rico (August 12).
