Patient HVC (77 years old, residing in Dong Loc commune) was admitted to the hospital in a coma, completely paralyzed on one side of his body. After a CT scan, it was determined that he had a cerebral infarction and a large blood vessel occlusion, so the patient was quickly taken to the intervention room.

With the support of Dr. Hoang Hai Phu - Stroke Center, Hue Central Hospital, Dr. Nguyen Sy Trinh - Head of the Department of Nephrology and Musculoskeletal (Provincial General Hospital) and his team performed intervention to re-open the cerebral blood vessels by removing blood clots with mechanical instruments. After 45 minutes of intervention, the blocked cerebral blood vessels were completely re-opened. Up to now, the patient is awake, hemiplegia has been restored, and his limbs can move normally.
In the past 3 days, this is the second stroke case that doctors at the Provincial General Hospital have successfully treated using a mechanical device to remove blood clots after being transferred by experts from Hue Central Hospital.

Doctor Hoang Hai Phu - Stroke Center, Hue Central Hospital said: "This is a fairly severe stroke case, the stroke time has been quite long. The recanalization of cerebral blood vessels by thrombectomy helps the patient recover, showing the superiority and effectiveness of this technique. It can be said that the Provincial General Hospital's mastery of the technique is extremely important, bringing many opportunities for survival and recovery, minimizing sequelae for stroke patients."
