Marina Bay Sands hosts a show featuring 1,500 drones forming a giant dragon in the sky over Singapore to celebrate Lunar New Year.

The Marina Bay Sands drone show began at 8pm on February 10, with about 1,000 people watching live, despite the pouring rain. 1,500 drones flew over Marina Bay on the first day of the new year, forming the shape of a giant moving dragon.

Engineer Tang Yann Song, 48, had been waiting for the drone show with his family since 6 p.m. "We were planning to go to Malaysia for Chinese New Year, but for some reason, we decided to come here to watch the drone show," Tang said.

Ms. Regie Grospe, 45 years old, who has been working as a maid in Singapore for 14 years, said she enjoyed the show, despite the rain.

The 10-minute drone show, titled “The Legend of Dragon Gate,” will continue at 8 p.m. on February 11, 12, 16, 17, and 18.

Drones are considered an alternative to fireworks in light shows in many places around the world because they are environmentally friendly and provide eye-catching images.
