Need effective investment

The Quang Nam OCOP product display and distribution center (Ban Thach ward) is very deserted. Due to the lack of buyers, the OCOP products displayed at the center are gradually decreasing.

Mr. Le Hong Thai, Director of Hong Phuc Furniture Company Limited, said that in order to promote, trade and consume OCOP products in Quang Nam (old), the company has put into operation the Quang Nam OCOP product display and distribution center in the center of Tam Ky city (old).

The center has an area of 600m2 ^, of which 250m2 ^is for product display, 100m2 ^is for product introduction conferences...

By June 2025, Da Nang city has 552 valid OCOP products (171 Da Nang products (old) and 381 Quang Nam products (old). Of which, there are 2 5-star products, 95 4-star products, 453 3-star products, and 5 potential 5-star products.

In 2025, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Quang Nam (old) coordinated with the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Da Nang (old) and the People's Committee of Lien Chieu District (old) to organize a conference to connect trade between suppliers and trade promotion organizations and display 120 OCOP booths with more than 100 participating entities.

“Previously, there were more than 250 products from 50 OCOP entities displayed and sold at the center, but now there are no customers so there are only a few stalls left, and the center is operating at a low level,” said Mr. Thai.

Meanwhile, Thang Truong commune (merged from 3 communes Binh Nam, Binh Sa, Binh Hai of the old Thang Binh district) currently has no OCOP introduction and sales points.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hoang, Chairman of the People's Committee of Thang Truong Commune, said that the locality owns many OCOP products that have affirmed their brands such as peanut oil, sesame oil, lotus oil, etc., and really needs to invest in sales points to open up the market.

“Effective investment in the space for displaying and selling OCOP products will bring many benefits, helping consumers access and use quality goods. In particular, it will create opportunities for OCOP products to access the domestic market, promote and trade for international export,” said Mr. Hoang.

According to research, consumers have high demand for accessing and using quality products and goods that ensure food hygiene and safety, especially OCOP products.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Thao (Nui Thanh commune) said: "Sometimes I want to buy OCOP goods to give to relatives and friends, but the product sales points are not popular."

A worthy space for OCOP

Explaining the issue of whether to invest in more OCOP introduction and sales points in the city, according to Mr. Nguyen The Hung, Head of the City's Rural Development Department, the unit is reviewing and counting OCOP sales points.

From there, create a basis to evaluate whether the activities in the past have been really effective, what are the shortcomings and bottlenecks to advise the Department of Agriculture and Environment to make appropriate recommendations to the City People's Committee.

The content includes the floor plan, OCOP product prices compared to the market floor, the connection between OCOP subjects and points of sale...

Ms. Le Thi Kim Phuong, Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, said that after the merger, Da Nang city has many high-quality OCOP products with unique values in culture, cuisine and craft villages. This is an important resource that needs to be effectively exploited to serve tourism development, domestic consumption and promote the local image.

However, the city currently does not have a dedicated OCOP product display space.

In recent times, the city has developed a number of OCOP display and sales points in traditional markets and tourist areas, but the results have not been very effective.

In fact, Da Nang lacks professional display space or the store location is not convenient and has not created a unique mark for OCOP products.

The industry and trade sector proposed that the City People's Committee allow it to study and propose a number of locations at surplus public housing and land facilities after arranging and assigning headquarters to agencies and units, especially in the city center and along the two banks of the Han River to form a city-level OCOP center.

The center will ensure conditions for display, consumption connection and development of local specialty shopping tourism.

The Department of Industry and Trade proposed to study and implement a pilot mechanism for assigning management according to a controlled socialization model to improve the operational efficiency of the center.
