870,000 visitors to the Southern Traditional Cake Festival

On the evening of April 21, at Binh Thuy District Square (Can Tho City), the closing ceremony of the 11th Southern Traditional Cake Festival 2024 took place.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Ms. Dao Thi Thanh Thuy - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Can Tho City - said that the festival attracted about 200 booths from 12 provinces and cities nationwide and 9 districts of Can Tho City. During the 5 days of the festival (from April 17 to 21), there were 870,000 visitors coming to visit and experience.

According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Can Tho City, this year's folk cake festival has a scale suitable for the overall space and hot weather; diverse and rich activities (giant pancakes, folk cake fashion , LED kite flying...) and is professionally organized.

The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Can Tho City said that the festival has created a highlight with a space to introduce the craft of making Thuan Hung rice paper and perform a giant banh xeo, contributing to preserving and promoting the value of Vietnamese culinary culture and the value of Southern folk cakes.

However, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism also acknowledged some limitations such as environmental sanitation issues, although there have been many efforts, but sometimes and somewhere it is not guaranteed, especially during peak times from 6pm to 9pm every night; parking lot management still has a situation of some spontaneous parking lots, affecting the general activities of the festival...
