Treasures in Cat Tien

On the first day of the 14km forest tour, wild nature opened up before our eyes with green space and ancient trees. If the 500-year-old Tung tree is so majestic that dozens of people cannot hug it, the 700-year-old Bac Dong tree leaves an impression with its name named after the late Prime Minister Pham Van Dong, when he visited this tree on February 12, 1988. Da Co Lagerstroemia Forest is equally unique with a Lagerstroemia tree over 300 years old, with 6 tops reaching high to catch the sunlight. All are considered “treasures” of Cat Tien forest. In addition, the highlight of the forest is probably the many colorful butterflies fluttering through the bushes. Cat Tien is home to about 113 species of mammals, including gaurs and loris, two rare and strictly protected species. It is also the only place in Vietnam where you can see wildlife in the wild. When night falls, Long Ho's group will get in an open-top car to watch animals for about 12km. The tour guide will shine a light for tourists to see when they see animals, but only use yellow light because white light will scare them.

Using binoculars, you can see ungulates, porcupines, rabbits and snakes looking for food at night on the vast grasslands. For scientists , the most wonderful thing is to encounter the little loris, an animal listed in the Red Book of Vietnam and the world. They have outstanding characteristics of being gentle and having big round eyes that shine at night.
