On July 28, the Conference of Directors of the Department of Education and Training held its first working session with the participation of leaders of 34 departments, pedagogical training institutions and related units.
The conference aims to evaluate the results of implementing tasks for the 2024-2025 school year, share practical experiences, remove difficulties and set directions for the 2025-2026 school year.
According to the report, in the 2024-2025 school year, the Education sector will complete an important legal corridor by consulting the National Assembly to pass the Law on Teachers and 2 Resolutions related to universalizing preschool education and exempting and supporting tuition fees for children and high school students.
The 2024-2025 school year also marks an important step forward in implementing the 2018 General Education Program, with the full implementation of subjects and educational activities from grades 1 to 12. The model of "one program, many textbooks" is effectively applied, contributing to innovation in teaching methods towards developing students' qualities and abilities.
Some difficulties in assigning teachers and organizing teaching of new subjects have been gradually resolved.

The 2025 high school graduation exam was held safely and seriously with more than 1.1 million candidates participating. This year's exam has many new points, ensuring a suitable level of differentiation for graduation recognition and as a basis for university and vocational education admissions.
According to the Ministry of Education and Training , by the end of the 2024-2025 school year, the entire sector will have nearly 1.28 million teachers (public and non-public), an increase of 21,978 people compared to the previous year. The Ministry of Education and Training, in coordination with the Ministry of Home Affairs, has proposed adding 10,304 more teachers to the payroll to overcome the shortage of teachers, especially in difficult areas, while gradually ensuring a reasonable subject structure.
The Ministry of Education and Training focuses on training teachers; the Law on Teachers passed by the National Assembly has created an important legal basis for policy care for teachers. At the same time, the system of schools and classes continues to be invested in and upgraded. Localities proactively review and rearrange schools, consolidate small-scale schools to concentrate resources. The number of solid classrooms increases, while temporary and borrowed classrooms decrease.
Permanent Deputy Minister Pham Ngoc Thuong noted the executive role of the Director of the Department of Education and Training in the new context, with higher requirements on decentralization, delegation of authority, innovation in thinking and management methods.
