The Imperial Academy relic site has been the headquarters of the Hue City History Museum for nearly 50 years.

On the afternoon of February 7, the Hue City Museum of History completed the procedures to hand over the building belonging to the Nguyen Dynasty's Imperial Academy to the Hue Monuments Conservation Center for management.

This land and house at No. 01, 23/8 Street, Dong Ba Ward, Phu Xuan District has been temporarily assigned to the museum by the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue Province (now Hue City) since its establishment in 1976.

The current status of the museum's campus includes the following works: Quoc Tu Giam architectural and artistic relic, Thi Hoc Stele, Huynh Tu Thu Thanh Stele, 2 Learning houses, the three-entrance gate...

In 2013, the Quoc Tu Giam relic was granted a Certificate of land use rights, house ownership rights and assets attached to the land by the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province, with an area of over 24,600 m2, granted to the Hue Monuments Conservation Center.

In 2021, the Provincial People's Committee issued a decision to adjust the management decentralization of ranked relics in the area and the Quoc Tu Giam relic was transferred to the Hue Monuments Conservation Center for management. The Provincial History Museum will hand over to the center after moving to a new location.

Di Luan Duong project will be comprehensively renovated to promote the value of the relic.

At the end of 2024, the History Museum moved all facilities, documents and artifacts to a new facility at 268 Dien Bien Phu, Truong An ward to return space to the Nguyen Dynasty's Imperial Academy relic.

The Hue City People's Council has approved the investment policy for the project "preservation and adaptation of the Quoc Tu Giam - Hue Citadel relic" with a budget of more than 108 billion VND from the local budget.

The project was carried out within 4 years with the overall restoration of Di Luan Duong and the interior of this relic; restoration of the Huynh Tu Thu Thanh stele house, 2 left/right Learning houses...

The Imperial Academy of the Nguyen Dynasty has unique cultural, historical and architectural values. In 1993, this relic, along with the Nguyen Dynasty relic system in Hue, was recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage.
