Workers receive job counseling at Thai Nguyen Provincial Employment Service Center. |
After the merger, Thai Nguyen has created a unified development space, redistributing the labor force in a reasonable and sustainable manner. Accordingly, the wave of jobs is no longer concentrated in industrial zones such as Song Cong, Yen Binh, Diem Thuy... but gradually moving to mountainous communes such as Ba Be, Cho Don, Thuong Quan. Further away are the communes of Bang Thanh, Bang Van, Cuong Loi.
In places that were once considered “remote areas”, new economic development models are gradually taking shape: Community tourism associated with preserving ethnic culture; organic agriculture associated with export markets, forest product processing connecting value chains in midland and mountainous areas.
Employment opportunities have also expanded. Not only in central cities, but also in villages and hamlets, where local workers can “leave their farms but not their hometowns”. They can have jobs and increase their income right on their homeland.
It is noted that in the past 5 years, both Thai Nguyen and Bac Kan provinces have made significant efforts in vocational training and job creation for workers.
Currently, the province has 56 vocational training institutions, with more than 120,000 students studying regularly. Vocational training institutions contribute to improving the quality of human resources in the province.
According to statistics compiled by the authorities, the rate of trained workers in the province has reached an average of 65.7% so far; of which, the old Thai Nguyen area reached 76.5%, and the old Bac Kan area reached 55%.
Vocational training quality is gradually being innovated towards training according to orders, closely linking schools and businesses, especially in the fields of engineering, technology, information technology, and high-tech agriculture.
Also in the past 5 years, in the two provinces, about 150,000 workers have been provided with new jobs. Of these, about 20,000 workers have been supported to work abroad for a limited period of time.
In particular, by 2025, the unemployment rate in urban areas of the merged Thai Nguyen province will remain low, below 2.5%; specifically, the old Thai Nguyen will be below 3%, the old Bac Kan will be below 2%.
These are vivid figures, reflecting the actual effectiveness of vocational training policies, job creation and connecting labor supply and demand in the new context.
Job opportunities are always open to workers who are ready to participate in the labor market. The proof is that every year, through the Provincial Employment Service Center, businesses and vocational training institutions regularly register to recruit over 30,000 positions in many industries and fields.
Although there are great job opportunities, the post-merger labor market still faces many challenges. These include the gap in qualifications and skills between urban and rural areas; limited awareness among some workers; and widespread fear of moving and changing careers.
To create more job opportunities for workers, Thai Nguyen province continues to invest in vocational education; strengthen early career orientation in high schools; build a startup ecosystem in rural areas; and have appropriate support policies for disadvantaged labor groups.
Between units such as vocational training institutions, enterprises, and local authorities, further strengthen the implementation of training linkages and on-site job development.
Along with that, the province focuses on developing job service centers, direct and online job exchanges, regularly updating labor market information and recruitment needs so that workers can promptly grasp.
Consulting, job placement, and labor retraining are also emphasized, especially in the context of economic restructuring and the rapid digital transformation process. With synchronous solutions, Thai Nguyen province is gradually forming a flexible and effective labor market.
