Cambodian People's Party wins

On July 23, Prime Minister Hun Sen's Cambodian People's Party (CPP) declared a resounding victory in the election for the 7th National Assembly .

“We won an overwhelming victory but there is still no clear figure on the number of seats won,” said CPP spokesman Sok Eysan.

According to the National Election Committee (NEC), the Cambodian National Assembly election had a voter turnout of 84%, higher than the rate in the 2018 and 2022 elections. Of the 18 political parties participating in the election for the 7th National Assembly in Cambodia this time, 17 parties competed with the ruling CPP.

According to the NEC, more than 90,000 observers monitored and supervised this election - including more than 89,500 observers from 135 domestic organizations and 586 international observers. Nearly 1,300 reporters, including 137 international reporters, covered the election.

According to the Khmer Times, the election is an important test of Cambodia's ability to restore stability. It is a preparation step for a peaceful transfer of power that could take place between 2023 and 2028. Prime Minister Hun Sen has tried his best to ensure that the transfer of power will be peaceful , orderly and smooth.

Previously, sharing with China's Phoenix TV channel, Prime Minister Hun Sen said that his eldest son, General Hun Manet, could become Prime Minister of Cambodia within 4 weeks after the election.
