Talking to the doctor, the patient said that about a week before being admitted to the hospital, the patient felt burning pain and an unusual mass appeared in the penis, and had difficulty urinating.

At the hospital, after examination and testing, the doctor concluded that the patient had penile cancer and was prescribed surgery by partial penectomy.

Specialist Doctor 2 Nguyen Van Phuc (doctor treating at the Department of Andrology, Central Military Hospital 108) said that penile cancer is a fairly common disease in the field of andrology. Up to 90% of penile cancer patients are related to phimosis.

When a patient has phimosis, it will cause urine retention, creating conditions for bacteria and viruses to grow, gradually developing into cancer cells.

The male doctor noted that many patients have signs of suspected cancer but due to lack of knowledge, are afraid to go to the doctor because the disease is sensitive and only go to the doctor when there are unusual signs. In some cases, the patient comes late and the doctor has to cut off 1/2 or 3/4 of the penis.

According to Dr. Phuc, not everyone with phimosis gets penile cancer, however, the rate of penile cancer due to phimosis is very high.

Recognizing phimosis in men

Recognize phimosis

Male experts note that in adult men, the foreskin usually slips off the glans when the penis is erect, but in people with phimosis, the foreskin always covers the glans.

The glans is only partially or semi-exposed, or when it is pulled back it cannot be returned to its original state; or the foreskin is stuck to the glans. Every time you use your hand to pull the foreskin back, it causes pain.

Phimosis causes loss of genital aesthetics. Phimosis prevents the glans from being fully exposed, the foreskin is tightly wrapped around the glans, so the penis size is not fully developed. Men are therefore always self-conscious because the penis is short and small, unsightly, causing difficulty in urinating and cleaning the genitals. Men with phimosis often have difficulty cleaning, painful urination and burning urination, causing pain and burning in the penis.

Phimosis is the cause of male genital infections due to urine accumulation in the foreskin. If you do not know how to keep the genitals clean, it will create conditions for bacteria to grow and cause male genital infections such as foreskin inflammation, glans inflammation, urethritis and most seriously, penile cancer.
