Vietnam team rises one place in FIFA rankings

Despite losing to South Korea with a score of 0-6 and being deducted 2.41 points, the Vietnamese team still received good news about increasing its rank on the FIFA rankings.

As expected by experts and fans, the Vietnamese team lost 0-6 to the superior team, South Korea, in a friendly match on the evening of October 17 at Suwon Stadium (South Korea).

Stars Kim Min Jae, Hwang Hee Chan, Son Heung Min, Lee Kang In and Jeong Woo Yeon scored against goalkeeper Dang Van Lam. In addition, the Vietnamese team also conceded a goal from an own goal by Vo Minh Trong.

According to calculations from the Football Ranking website, this loss caused the Vietnamese team to lose 2.41 points in the FIFA rankings and vice versa, the Korean team received 2.41 points after this big win.

During the FIFA Days in October this year, the Vietnamese team played three matches against China, Uzbekistan and South Korea. The match against Uzbekistan was a closed friendly match and did not count for points. The 0-2 loss to China on October 10 caused the Vietnamese team to lose 4.48 points.

Thus, according to calculations, the Vietnamese team will be deducted a total of 6.89 points in the friendly match in October this year. However, coach Philippe Troussier's team still received good news when it rose one place in the FIFA rankings, from 95th to 94th in the world.

According to Football Ranking , the reason why the Vietnamese team increased in rank is because the teams ranked before and right after us all had bad results in the FIFA Days in October and were demoted.

The Armenian team lost three consecutive matches in October, was deducted 20.22 points and dropped from 91st to 96th in the world. The Kyrgyzstan team, ranked 96th in the FIFA rankings, was also deducted 4.57 points and dropped to 98th in the world.

After the end of the FIFA Days in October, the Vietnamese team will play two matches in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against the Philippines and Iraq next month.
