Complete 32 key traffic infrastructure projects; expand and upgrade provincial road 949 (Tinh Bien, 18.7km long); upgrade and urgently expand provincial road 948 (connecting Tri Ton - Tinh Bien, 16.3km long)...; invest in Ho Chi Minh road, section through Kien Giang province (old); upgrade the surface of Lo Te - Rach Soi highway... An Giang also expects Tan Chau bridge across Tien river connecting Tan Chau with Hong Ngu, Dong Thap province to be built soon.
Together with Chau Doc bridge, it will form an axis connecting An Giang and Dong Thap provinces with National Highway N1, shortening the time for goods to travel to Ho Chi Minh City and other provinces and cities.
Many horizontal and vertical routes connecting the province have also been invested in. In particular, the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang expressway passing through An Giang will be completed in the near future and will have a positive impact on the socio-economic development of the new An Giang province. Many key traffic routes connecting with localities in the province have been invested in and built, the traffic infrastructure has been developed quite well, gradually connecting with the national traffic system.
The potentials and strengths of each economic region continue to be effectively promoted, such as the Long Xuyen quadrangle, which is developing quite well in tourism, services, seaports, agricultural and aquatic product production and processing for export, and construction material production. The West Hau River region focuses on developing agriculture, processing industry, mechanics, and services for agriculture and rural areas. The U Minh Thuong region develops agricultural production combined with effective aquaculture, and eco-tourism and source tourism models are receiving investment attention.
The sea and island areas have developed strongly and diversified types of services, high-quality tourism, exploitation and aquaculture. Strengthen cooperation and development links with provinces in the Mekong Delta; promote the driving force role of Rach Gia, Phu Quoc, Long Xuyen and Chau Doc.
Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ngo Cong Thuc said: "The province has identified 4 major key economic centers of An Giang province after the merger: Chau Doc - Long Xuyen, Long Xuyen - Rach Gia, Rach Gia - Ha Tien, Ha Tien - Chau Doc and is concerned about how to connect these 4 centers. Identifying tourism as a key economic development point, therefore, developing transport infrastructure is very important.
In the near future, the province will implement 3 important expressway projects including: Ha Tien - Rach Gia - Bac Lieu (old) expressway, now Ca Mau, parallel to Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang expressway; phase 2 of Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang expressway is the road connecting the starting point of this expressway in Chau Doc to 2 international border gates Tinh Bien and Khanh Binh national border gate (procedures are being completed to Khanh Binh international border gate), connecting to the national highway of neighboring country Cambodia.
The third important project is the expressway connecting the two urban areas of Rach Gia - Long Xuyen (the starting point is the intersection of Lac Hong and Rach Gia bypass; the end point is the intersection of Pham Cu Luong and Long Xuyen bypass). These are important projects connecting the four economic pillars of the province."
“Our business expects that the completion of the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang expressway will break the monopoly. Together with the expressways, connecting the quadrilateral region of Long Xuyen - Chau Doc - Rach Gia - Ha Tien, connecting with neighboring provinces will increase road transport capacity, reduce transportation costs, help the province expand economic development space and develop businesses”, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Xuan - Vice Chairman of An Giang Business Association shared. “We hope that the expressway connecting the two urban areas of Rach Gia - Long Xuyen will soon start construction to shorten travel time”, many officials and civil servants shared.
Deputy Director of the Department of Construction Dao Duy Hiep said: “To contribute to the development of An Giang to become a national maritime economic center; develop border gate economy; complete the goal of implementing Resolution 13 on connecting the Mekong Delta region; ensure progress according to the national road network planning, the province is implementing investment in the Ha Tien - Rach Gia - Bac Lieu cross-axis expressway, in which priority is given to investment in the 2025 - 2030 period of the 82km Ha Tien - Rach Gia section.
Upgrading and expanding national highway sections through An Giang including National Highways N1, 63, 61, 80 to improve the operating capacity of the horizontal and vertical expressways connecting Lo Te - Rach Soi, Can Tho - Ca Mau and Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang routes.
Accelerating the completion of key projects will create a strong driving force for growth, reduce logistics costs, promote production and business, attract investment and develop the market. Not only the government but also the people and businesses have expectations.
