These days, in Phu Quoc, the working atmosphere at the projects serving APEC 2027 is urgent. Hundreds of workers and engineers are divided into many shifts working 24/7 amid the roaring sound of machinery, under the harsh summer sun and sudden heavy rains.

According to Sun Group Chairman of the Southern Region Bui Thanh Trung, the group and its affiliated units were selected to carry out three strategic projects including upgrading and expanding Phu Quoc International Airport, APEC Conference Center, Bai Dat Do mixed-use urban area, and Ong Quan Mountain mixed-use eco-tourism urban area.

Up to now, the unit implementing the Phu Quoc International Airport expansion project at terminal T2 has a 10% deposit progress; VIP terminal has a 30% deposit progress, ground leveling has reached 60%; construction of fences, gateways, and service roads has reached 45%; clearing and clearing the site has reached about 35%... The Group is committed to completing the Phu Quoc International Airport expansion investment project in the first quarter of 2027.

The APEC Conference Center and Bai Dat Do mixed urban area project has completed embankment, leveling, and sand pumping of the 28ha public investment area, reaching about 94%; construction of test piles reaching 100%; multi-purpose auditorium area with test piles reaching 71%; tower crane installation reaching 33%...

For the Ong Quan Mountain eco-tourism mixed-use urban area project, Sun Group proposed that the People's Committee of Phu Quoc special zone hold a meeting with the people, mobilize them to hand over the land; deploy land measurement and information collection. In the immediate future, the unit will renovate the shophouses to arrange temporary housing and resettlement areas for temporary residents, ensuring the lives of people whose land is included in the planning.

In addition to strategic projects, the locality is preparing to start construction on a series of projects such as Duong Dong 2 Lake, Cua Can Lake, Bai Bon Waste-to-Energy Plant, An Thoi Domestic Solid Waste Treatment Plant, underground infrastructure works in An Thoi and Duong Dong areas, Bai Bon Waste Treatment Area, etc. The special zone government is speeding up site clearance and resettlement for affected people.

According to tourism businesses, APEC 2027 is not only an important foreign affairs event for Vietnam but also an opportunity to promote the country’s image and position in the international arena. For Phu Quoc, this is an event that helps the locality develop infrastructure, attract investment, promote tourism; and at the same time, elevate Phu Quoc on the world tourism map…

Therefore, from this point on, the local service sector will proactively implement many promotional activities, train human resources, invest in tourism infrastructure, etc. to ensure the best service for APEC 2027.

According to a representative of Radisson Blu Resort Phu Quoc, in preparation for APEC 2027, the unit is promoting in-depth training of human resources in professional skills, communication skills, especially foreign languages including Korean, Russian, Chinese and Hindi. In addition, the unit is focusing on upgrading facilities and technical infrastructure to ensure international standards, enhancing the experience for tourists.

Identifying the role, position and responsibility at this particularly important event, the industry continues to promote training programs, cooperate with schools to train high-quality tourism human resources and policies to attract talent; focus on researching and building unique, high-end tourism products including APEC tours, focusing on high-class experiences from entertainment products to gifts, high-class cuisine, sophisticated with local cultural identity.
