Waiting for the "wave" of exports from China

Experts predict that August will be a crucial month for the durian market as demand from mainland China is expected to increase sharply, especially in the run-up to the year-end festival season. According to the Bangkok Post, major importers in China are readying warehouses and logistics to welcome the surge in imported fruits, of which durian is considered a staple.

Mr. Guo Min – Deputy Marketing Director of Joy Wing Mau, one of China’s leading fruit importers – commented that demand for fresh durian, especially from Malaysia and Vietnam, is at a high level. Meanwhile, Mr. Allen Zeng of Goodfarmer Fresh Fruit Trading said that Chinese consumers increasingly prioritize fruit brands with clear origin, safety standards and freshness.

The China International Import Expo (CIIE) taking place from November 5 to 10 in Shanghai is expected to be a great opportunity to strengthen the connection between Vietnamese growers and Chinese importers. Not only durian, other fruits such as Vietnamese coconuts and cherries will also be introduced with high quality to meet the increasingly demanding needs of this market.

With expectations from exports and a stable domestic market, durian prices in the coming time are likely to remain positive, especially for selected products for export.
