At the conference, Professor, Dr. Tran Van Thuan, Deputy Minister of Health, said that health technology assessment is considered an effective tool to improve the efficiency of the health system, to support policy makers in making evidence-based policy decisions on the selection, payment and optimal use of health technology.

According to Deputy Minister Thuan, compared to many countries in the world and in the region, Vietnam is still a country that lags behind in developing medical technology assessment, so it is necessary to strengthen international cooperation and exchange in this field.

It is known that the conference took place over 2 days, November 1 and 2. In addition to 2 plenary sessions and 4 thematic sessions with nearly 30 reports and research papers, the conference also had 2 training programs including "Medical technology assessment at the hospital level" and "Advanced medical technology assessment" to provide medical staff with knowledge and practical experience of experts.

Associate Professor, Dr. Le Khac Cuong, Vice President of Hong Bang International University, commented: "The content of the medical technology assessment conference is of great significance to people's health care. In particular, through this conference, lecturers in the health sector of universities have access to a lot of new and valuable information from scholars at home and abroad, especially from countries with developed medicine."

Associate Professor, Dr. Cuong also said that students and postgraduates in the health sector have learned a lot of new knowledge, approached concepts and research methods in the medical field that they had never had the opportunity to know before.
