Hanoi ensures safety when operating Tuyen Quang and Thac Ba hydropower plants

The two hydroelectric reservoirs of Tuyen Quang and Thac Ba have closed three spillway gates.

Pursuant to Official Dispatch No. 6216/CD-BNN-DD of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development , the Director of Tuyen Quang Hydropower Company closed 1 bottom spillway gate; the Director of Thac Ba Hydropower Joint Stock Company closed 2 surface spillways of Tuyen Quang and Thac Ba hydropower reservoirs.

Based on Document No. 6217/BNN-DD of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development on ensuring downstream safety when operating Tuyen Quang and Thac Ba hydropower reservoirs, to ensure downstream safety, the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Control and Search and Rescue of Hanoi City requests the Steering Committees of districts, towns and cities to focus on response solutions.

The key task is to immediately notify authorities at all levels, people, and organizations operating on rivers and riverbanks of information so that they can proactively take measures to ensure safety and adjust activities accordingly; not allowing people to go to areas at risk of landslides or construction sites to avoid unfortunate losses.

The Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Control and Search and Rescue of Hanoi City also requested localities to strictly implement the direction in Document No. 54/BCH dated June 13, 2024 on ensuring the safety of works and downstream reservoirs belonging to the reservoir network in the Red River region during the flood season of 2024.
