Hai Phong FC eliminated from AFC Cup 2023-24

Hai Phong FC came to visit Persatuan Sepakbola Makassar Stadium in Indonesia without their best squad and the chances of the team from the port city advancing to the Asian playground are not high.

Hai Phong FC controlled the ball more in the early minutes of the match. In the 24th minute, the away team almost scored a goal when Huu Son fired a shot from a distance, but the ball went just wide of the goal.

After 5 rounds, Hai Phong FC has 7 points, ranking second in Group H after Sabah FC (12 points). The 2023-2024 AFC Cup has 12 teams divided into three groups in the Southeast Asian region. The teams play a round-robin tournament to select the three group winners and the best second-placed team to enter the semi-finals.

Among the three runners-up, Hai Phong FC is at the bottom and has no chance as Cambodia's Phnom Penh Crown Club has 12 points. The match against Hougang FC on December 14 at Lach Tray Stadium is just a formality for Hai Phong FC.
