(CLO) Officials said trash carried by North Korean balloons fell on the presidential complex in central Seoul on October 24.
South Korea's presidential security agency said one of the balloons launched by North Korea exploded over the South Korean presidential complex on the morning of October 24, dropping trash on the ground. No dangerous items were found.
North Korea has been launching balloons carrying trash into South Korea since late May. In July, trash from a North Korean balloon also fell on the South Korean president's compound. There were no hazardous materials and no injuries.
It is unclear whether South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol was at the complex during the latest incident. His schedule shows he was scheduled to meet Polish President Andrzej Duda at his office later on October 24.

Experts say North Korea may not have the advanced technology to launch balloons at specific targets.
"Regardless of whether the balloons have GPS or not, the important thing is to release them in large numbers and reach the right altitude based on the wind direction and speed so that they can travel," said Lee Choon Geun, an honorary research fellow at the Korea Science and Technology Policy Institute.
"Some media reports say the balloon's accuracy has improved, but it's not because it's equipped with a guidance system, but because it's the southerly wind season," said Mr. Lee.
North Korea has previously accused South Korea of sending drones to drop propaganda leaflets over Pyongyang three times this month, and threatened a military response if it happened again.
