Dong Nai province has been promoting many programs to support and guide local enterprises in creating and registering contents related to intellectual property, patent protection, industrial designs, trademarks, geographical indications, etc.

Sustainable Brand Development

Intellectual property rights, especially trademarks and trade names, increasingly play a key role in corporate brand development strategies as e-commerce and digital consumption become increasingly popular.

Local enterprises are changing their awareness of IP to enhance their competitive value, create a premise for sustainable brand development, and limit legal risks in the business environment.

Director of Laven Group Company Limited (Gia Kiem Commune) Dinh Thanh Thien said: The company was established more than 5 years ago. Since its inception, the company has paid attention to establishing and registering intellectual property, brands, and trademarks for the company's Laven Coffee products. In addition, thanks to the support and guidance of the Department of Science and Technology and the locality, the company regularly updates criteria and requirements related to intellectual property.

“Ensuring the requirements of intellectual property will be an important foundation for the company to develop its story and brand recognition to partners and consumers. At the same time, it also helps the company resolve disputes related to trademarks and product labels. This has been proven when recently, a coffee production facility used the Laven brand name for business. However, thanks to providing full conditions to prove that the Laven Coffee brand had been registered for protection by the company, establishing intellectual property rights, through discussion and negotiation, the other facility finally agreed to no longer use the Laven Coffee brand name,” said Mr. Dinh Thanh Thien.

MSc. Nguyen Ngoc Tuan, Vice Chairman of the Lawyers - Corporate Legal Club (Dong Nai Province Bar Association), Director of Viet A Law Tax - Accounting Company Limited (Tran Bien Ward), shared: Small and medium-sized enterprises in the locality need to pay attention to naming the enterprise, the names of products, goods and services right from the establishment of the enterprise. In particular, naming needs to be easy to understand, easy to identify, it is necessary to build both Vietnamese names and translate them into English to contribute to the future development, especially for enterprises in the field of import and export, saving some related costs to establish and register intellectual property, trademarks, etc.

According to Mr. Tuan, businesses also need to focus on building and registering website names according to their brand names associated with domain names .vn, .com.vn... to facilitate the promotion and introduction of businesses, and enhance recognition in the online environment.

In early July 2025, the Department of Science and Technology issued a plan to implement tasks in the field of IP in 2025. This plan aims to enhance responsibility and effectiveness of state management of IP activities in the province; concretize and effectively implement the IP strategy in the province until 2030.

Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology Vo Hoang Khai shared: In order to effectively implement the plan to deploy tasks in the field of IP in 2025, in the coming time, the Department of Science and Technology will coordinate with relevant departments, branches, units and localities to organize training courses, workshops, seminars, conferences... on IP in the province. In particular, focusing on disseminating new legal documents related to IP; propagating and disseminating related content on intellectual property protection to raise awareness for organizations and individuals in the province.

Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology VO HOANG KHAI emphasized that the department will focus on supporting the construction, creation, management and development of certification marks, collective marks, geographical indications for specialties, craft village products, and local specific products; organizing study groups and exchanging experiences on intellectual property development programs, models of management of geographical indications, certification marks, collective marks, etc.

In addition, the Department of Science and Technology will support the registration of intellectual property protection for enterprises, organizations and individuals.
