On July 26, the Ministry of Construction coordinated with the People's Committee of Dong Thap province to organize the groundbreaking ceremony for the My An - Cao Lanh expressway project, phase 1 , which is part of the North - South expressway in the West ( Ho Chi Minh road).
The project is over 26km long, with a scale of 4 lanes in phase 1, with a total investment of over 6,100 billion VND, using ODA loans from the Korean Government and domestic counterpart funds, with My Thuan Project Management Board as the investor. The construction period is expected to be 3 years, completed in 2028.
The project has a starting point connecting to route N2 in Doc Binh Kieu commune, and an end point connecting at An Binh intersection, My Tra ward, Dong Thap province.

The completion of the My An - Cao Lanh expressway project will contribute to gradually completing the North - South expressway in the West, improving transportation capacity for the Mekong Delta region.
The project creates convenient traffic connections between the provinces of the Southeast and Southwest, shortens travel time, reduces freight transport costs, expands trade, and contributes to the goal of completing 5,000km of expressway by 2030.
Chairman of Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee - Tran Tri Quang - requested that departments, branches and localities where the project passes through, and people in the project area create the most favorable conditions for investors and contractors; closely coordinate with investors and contractors to implement the project to ensure labor safety, quality and progress.

Mr. Pham Minh Ha - Deputy Minister of Construction - said that the My An - Cao Lanh expressway project plays an important role in connecting the Cao Lanh - An Huu, Cao Lanh - Lo Te and Lo Te - Rach Soi expressways, contributing to the formation of a continuous expressway axis in the West of the Mekong Delta region.
“When completed, the project will facilitate trade, socio-economic development, improve people's lives, and ensure regional defense and security. The route will shorten travel time, reduce freight transport costs, and expand trade as the Party and State have set out,” said Mr. Ha.
According to Mr. Ha, up to now, the site clearance work for the project has reached over 95% of the land acquisition area. Dong Thap province has also approved sand reserves to ensure sufficient material sources for construction.
