Digital transformation in media is an inevitable trend to enhance the media capacity of the press in attracting viewership from social networking platforms.

On September 21, in Da Nang City, within the framework of the 16th ASEAN Ministers of Information Meeting (AMRI 16), the ASEAN workshop on digital transformation of journalism and digital knowledge creation took place.

At Vietnam's initiative, for the first time, ASEAN member countries shared and discussed the topic of digital transformation in communications.

The workshop aims to create an open platform for sharing the status, policy-making process and best practices for digital transformation in communications. This will be the basis for further discussion, proposing initiatives and priorities for cooperation in the coming time.

The workshop includes two main sessions and one open discussion session on measures for ASEAN countries to join hands to promote the audio-visual industry in the digital age .

Session 1 includes presentations and sharing from management agencies of ASEAN countries on policies and solutions of the state in supporting and promoting digital transformation of press and media in each country; developing and promoting digital platforms for press and media; viewpoints and sharing stories about protecting press copyright on digital platforms...

Session 2 introduces good practices and successful models of digital transformation in journalism and media - experiences from some press agencies in Vietnam and ASEAN countries. The contents include: equipping digital skills to improve the qualifications of editors and reporters in journalism and media; applying modern technology and effective digital platforms to support content production and management; sharing about data collection and revenue from data; strategies for developing and protecting content in digital transformation...

The organizers believe that journalism, radio and television are fields that are being heavily impacted by the digital technology boom, as traditional media activities are gradually losing market share and revenue to cross-border platforms.

Therefore, digital transformation has become an inevitable trend. In this context, it is necessary for ASEAN countries to share experiences and understanding of strategies and good practices in promoting and orienting domestic press and media agencies to digitally transform sustainably.
