Beautiful farewell of shooting expert Park Chung-gun

The decision of the Korean coach was made after many days of considering the proposal of the Vietnamese sports industry, evaluating the assigned goals and carefully thinking about the working environment. Thus, for the first time in 10 years, Vietnamese shooting will look for a new expert, with the hope of continuing the brilliant success of Mr. Park Chung-gun such as winning gold medals at the Olympics and ASIAD. In the immediate future, two domestic coaches, Hoang Xuan Vinh and Tran Quoc Cuong, will take over the role Mr. Park left behind, in charge of the air pistol event of the Vietnamese shooting team.

Expert Park Chung-gun got involved with Vietnamese shooting at the invitation of former head coach Nguyen Thi Nhung. Mr. Park arrived when Vietnamese shooting was at zero: 0 gold medals at ASIAD and Olympics; no real bullets to shoot. Despite the difficulties, the Korean expert and coach Nguyen Thi Nhung trained a generation of talents with Hoang Xuan Vinh and Tran Quoc Cuong. In which, the peak of shooter Hoang Xuan Vinh was 1 gold medal, 1 silver medal at the Rio Olympics (2016). This is still the shining peak of Vietnamese sports at the Olympics. Mr. Park Chung-gun also had a great contribution in guiding the next generation of Hoang Xuan Vinh to the top, such as shooter Pham Quang Huy winning the gold medal at ASIAD 19 and Trinh Thu Vinh entering the top 4 of the 2024 Olympics (when Vinh had only practiced shooting for 7 years).

To date, Mr. Park Chung-gun is the most successful foreign expert in Vietnam, having made great contributions to helping Vietnamese shooting completely change history. It is a pity that his fate with the place he calls his "second homeland" has ended. The marks he left on Vietnamese sports are very special and cannot be erased. In particular, he chose a very humane way to say goodbye. He directly contacted the leaders of the Department of Sports and Physical Training to express his sincere thanks and farewell after a long time of attachment, "sharing hardships and joys" to bring glory. He sent his gratitude to those who worked with him, and left his best wishes for Vietnamese sports.
