Việt NamViệt Nam08/01/2025

After 2 years of successful organization, the qualifying round of the Southwest region of TNSV has become the focus of attention of students and received special attention from universities in the Mekong Delta region. The clearest evidence is that the number of participating teams has doubled compared to the first season. 8 names will compete together in this season including: Tra Vinh University, Can Tho University, Dong Thap University, Tay Do University, FPT University Can Tho, Cuu Long University, Vinh Long University of Technical Education and Nam Can Tho University. In which, Vinh Long University of Technical Education and Dong Thap University promise to bring a new breeze to the tournament when participating for the first time.

Can Tho Stadium with a capacity of more than 30,000 seats is ready for the Southwest region qualifying round of TNSV THACO cup 2025

Compared to other regions, the qualifying round of the Southwest region is considered the most difficult with only 1 place in the final round. In particular, the fierce matches will take place at Can Tho Stadium (Cai Khe Ward, Ninh Kieu District, Can Tho City), which has a national standard grass field and 4 stands with more than 30,000 seats.

In the Southwest region this season, Vinh Long University of Technical Education and Dong Thap University, although new recruits, have both prepared very carefully. While Vinh Long University of Technical Education spent hundreds of millions of dong to train their players, Dong Thap University hired a foreign coach. Meanwhile, "familiar" teams such as Tay Do University, Cuu Long University, FPT University Can Tho, and Nam Can Tho University are also eager to participate in the final round.

As for Can Tho University, after losing the ticket to the 2024 finals to Tra Vinh University, this year, coach Chau Duc Thanh and his team are determined to regain their position as the number 1 team in the region. Therefore, the journey to defend the 2024 "throne" in the Western region of Tra Vinh University will face many difficulties when the number of participating teams this year increases, the teams are all well-prepared and have greater ambitions.

In addition to the ready field conditions, the 2025 TNSV THACO Cup Southwestern Regional Qualifiers have received great attention and support from the Board of Directors of Can Tho City Police in directing and assigning forces to ensure security and order. Along with that is the support of Can Tho Central General Hospital in ensuring medical care throughout the tournament.

Mr. Truong Cong Quoc Viet, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Can Tho City, shared: “Up to now, all stages are ready for the 15 qualifying matches of the Southwest region starting from January 8-17. The increasing number of registered teams proves that the tournament is increasingly attractive. The Sports Department of Can Tho City is very happy to accompany Thanh Nien Newspaper in this meaningful event”.
