Currently, she lives with her daughter's family in a small rented house in Ho Chi Minh City, for 3 million VND. "My house used to be on Van Kiep Street, but later that property was sold, so my family has been renting. My parents used to run a singing troupe, so the house is gone. From a young age, I only followed the singing troupe with my mother, and when I let go, I don't know what to do," artist Thanh The's daughter shared with director Khuong Dua in the program I Tell the Listener.

Currently, due to poor health, the cai luong singer mainly stays at home and is taken care of by her children. However, due to her old age, she sometimes remembers and sometimes forgets, but she is still passionate about singing. "Many people say that meeting artist Thanh The seems normal, but if you sit down and talk for a while, you will know that my mother is not as clear-minded as before," the 4X singer's child confided.

“My mother only retired before the pandemic. Before that, she still sang, and if I didn’t take her, she would get angry,” Thanh The’s daughter added. Although she doesn’t remember as much as before, Thanh The is still passionate about her career. During a recent meeting with director Khuong Dua, she excitedly sang a part from Chung Vo Diem, which delighted everyone.

According to her daughter, in her heyday, artist Thanh The shared the stage with many artists such as Thanh Tong, artist Truong Son, artist Duc Loi, etc. Thanks to her years of dedication to the profession, the traditional opera singer was loved by many audiences, who still remember her. Not to mention, the female artist was also respected by her colleagues, especially her juniors, because when she was still in the profession, she was willing to help and share her singing experience with her juniors.

Currently, Thanh The's daughter and her husband mainly sing to earn income to cover their living expenses. In addition, both of them also make performance costumes and spend time taking care of the veteran artist. "My mother is very lucky because she is supported by a family of an audience member currently living abroad. They have supported my mother for decades, from the time she was still lucid and singing until now. Thinking about it, I feel sorry for her, the audience sent money for her expenses. My mother has to wear diapers because she cannot control herself," said Thanh The's daughter.
