The life cycle of hair lasts about 3.5 years, after which it falls out and is replaced by a new hair. Each hair grows an average of 2-3 cm/month, according to the health website Healthline (USA).

Sweet potatoes are rich in beta-carotene, which stimulates the glands in the scalp and prevents dry hair.

To have healthy hair, vegetarians should prioritize eating the following foods:

Nuts

Nuts like walnuts, almonds, pistachios and chestnuts are delicious and nutritious. They are rich in vitamin E, B, zinc and essential fatty acids which are essential for hair growth. A deficiency in any of these nutrients can lead to hair loss.

Spinach

This leafy green is rich in folate and iron. Folate is a B vitamin that helps make red blood cells. Iron, on the other hand, helps red blood cells carry oxygen throughout the body. Getting enough oxygen-rich, nutrient-rich blood is key to healthy hair.

Not only that, spinach also contains vitamin A, beta carotene and vitamin C. These nutrients combined will help keep the scalp healthy, keep hair moisturized, bouncy and prevent breakage due to dry hair.

Lentils

Protein is abundant in meat. Vegetarians may lack protein because they do not eat meat. Lack of protein will negatively affect hair growth, making hair weak and prone to breakage.

Meanwhile, lentils are rich in protein and help vegetarians avoid protein deficiency. Each cup of cooked lentils contains about 18 grams of protein and is one of the highest protein-rich plants.

Sweet potato

Sweet potatoes are rich in beta-carotene, a precursor of vitamin A. Once in the body, beta-carotene is converted into vitamin A. This vitamin is essential for cell growth, including hair.

There is scientific evidence that vitamin A stimulates the glands in the scalp, helping to prevent dry hair and dull hair. In addition to sweet potatoes, some other foods such as carrots, pumpkin, watermelon and mango are also rich in vitamin A, according to Healthline .
