(Dan Tri) - With its rugged terrain, Manaslu peak with an altitude of 8,163m in Nepal is known as the "mountain of death" in Nepal, but there has been a Vietnamese climber who has just successfully conquered it.
According to Mr. Rajendra Dhakal, a liaison officer of the Nepalese government, Nguyen Manh Duy became the first Vietnamese climber to successfully conquer the 8,163m Manaslu peak at 2:51 p.m. on September 22 (local time). Accompanying Duy was Temba Bhote, an experienced mountain guide. This milestone is not only important for the Vietnamese climber. Bhote also became the first guide to take a Vietnamese climber to the top of Manaslu, the 8th highest mountain in the world and also one of the most challenging peaks on the planet.

It is known that with difficult terrain and unpredictable weather conditions, Mount Manslu is considered one of the most challenging peaks in the Himalayas, making this achievement even more proud. Nepalese media commented that both climbers successfully reached the summit, which is considered a historic mountaineering achievement for both Vietnam and Nepal. This climb is also considered a major event for the mountaineering community in general. Meanwhile, the success of climber Manh Duy marked a proud moment for Vietnam in the field of adventure sports .

Although only ranked 8th among the highest peaks in the world, Manaslu has long been considered by professional climbers around the world and locals as the "mountain of death". At least 60 people have died here. Normally, to conquer this peak, visitors will take about 65 days. This is considered the perfect stepping stone to conquer Mount Everest. According to climber Dawa Steven Sherpa, who opened a mountain climbing company in Kathmandu, "conquering Manaslu is a step that climbers must take before heading to Mount Everest. However, the terrain conditions are harsh, and this is where avalanches often occur, so locals also call it the mountain of death". Since 1991, the local government has opened its doors to welcome tourists to climb Manaslu, especially those who want to conquer the area along the border between Nepal and Tibet.
