NTO - Summary of progress of the Coastal Cities Sustainable Environment Project - Phan Rang City Sub-project

On September 27, Comrade Le Huyen, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee chaired a meeting to review with the World Bank (WB) delegation on the progress of the implementation of the Coastal Cities Sustainable Environment Project - Phan Rang - Thap Cham City Sub-project.

The Phan Rang - Thap Cham City sub-project has been implemented since June 2016 and is expected to be completed on June 30, 2024. According to the Provincial Water Sector ODA Project Implementation and Capacity Building Board (investor), the cumulative disbursement of ODA capital and counterpart capital from the beginning of the project to date has reached 65%, 4/4 construction packages in phase 1 have been completed and are focusing on implementing 9 construction packages in phase 2. The total project has 1,584 affected households, of which 15 households have not yet handed over the site.

Through listening to the progress report of the Project Management Board and the field supervision process, the members of the WB Working Group noted the clear progress in the construction of the items, some completed works creating excitement for the people in the beneficiary areas. At the same time, they recommended that the province further strengthen the capital disbursement work, make plans to completely resolve the remaining problems; speed up the construction of the Tan Tai canal, Cha La canal, Dong Hai lake; ensure labor safety in construction, environmental sanitation at the construction site, avoid affecting the lives and activities of the people, speed up the connection of wastewater to the common drainage system.

Speaking at the meeting, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee thanked the WB Working Group for always accompanying the province in the past time to implement the project steps. Based on the proposals and recommendations of some contents of the group, the province will focus on directing the investor, relevant departments, branches and localities to enhance their coordination role, proactively review all remaining tasks, especially urgently completing the site clearance work, making a detailed construction schedule for items with available site as well as arranging counterpart funds, ensuring the project is completed according to the commitment with the WB.
