The reason Thao Vy refused job opportunities in Ho Chi Minh City with a good salary is because she wanted to serve in the army and is always proud of her family's tradition and her hometown's tradition. "My dream since childhood was to serve in the army for a long time. Therefore, I recently decided to put aside my personal plans and volunteer to join the army in 2025," Thao Vy shared more.
Recently, Mai Ngoc Thao Vy has always actively participated in the Youth Union activities of Ward 3, Tay Ninh City.

Talking about his daughter's dream of serving in the army, Thao Vy's father, Mai Thanh Trieu, could not hide his pride: "When I heard my daughter write an application to join the army , I was very proud. The army is a very good environment for young people to contribute to the country and train themselves. I always hope that in the future, Thao Vy will become an excellent female officer who will work long-term in the army."
Recently, Tay Ninh province was honored to receive the Military Region's assignment to select 10 young women to participate in the parade practice and march to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army and the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day at the Ho Chi Minh City Command, including Mai Ngoc Thao Vy.
According to Mr. Tran Van Tam, Commander of the Military Command of Ward 3 (Tay Ninh City), Mai Ngoc Thao Vy is an excellent member of the Youth Union. In the past, Thao Vy has always actively participated in the activities of the ward. In particular, Thao Vy's ideology and morality are also very good.
"This is the first time in Ward 3 that a female university graduate has applied to join the army. Thao Vy's case will be a shining example for young people in the future," Mr. Tam added.
According to the People's Committee of Tay Ninh province, in 2025, 2,065 citizens were selected and called to join the army and perform their duty in the People's Public Security Forces (1,703 in the army and 362 in the police). According to the plan, the military handover ceremony will be held simultaneously in Tay Ninh province on February 13.
