After upgrading, Nha Trang railway

After more than a year of construction, contractors have replaced sleepers, rails, and renovated the upper structure of the railway. There are still some remaining construction sites for reinforcing the roadbed, longitudinal drainage ditches, etc.

The Nha Trang - Saigon railway renovation and upgrade project (phase 2) started construction at the end of January 2023.

The project includes 3 construction packages, with a total estimated investment of more than 1,098 billion VND.

Mr. Dang Xuan An, supervisory consultant of Hanoi Traffic Construction Consulting Joint Stock Company, said that up to now, the contractor has completed the main route upgrade items, replacing new rails and sleepers.

A railway section through Thuan Bac district ( Ninh Thuan province) has had its rails and sleepers replaced.

Specifically, the Ka Rom - Phuoc Nhon, Phuoc Nhon - Thap Cham, and Thap Cham - Hoa Trinh sections through Ninh Thuan province have basically completed the construction of the upper structure.

"At the Ka Rom - Phuoc Nhon section (Km 1382+246), the contractor is constructing 6km of drainage ditches along the route to soon conduct technical acceptance and handover to the investor," said Mr. An.

According to a leader of Thuan Hai Railway Joint Stock Company (the unit managing the railway section through Ninh Thuan), currently trains can travel at a speed of 80km/h, and after acceptance, the train speed can continue to be increased.

Mr. Nguyen Van Diep, in charge of the Nha Trang - Saigon section renovation and upgrade project (under the Railway Project Management Board) said that the two packages XL01 and XL02 are ahead of schedule compared to the contract, and the disbursement has reached 100% of the capital plan.

The construction is carried out in a rolling manner, with the specific requirement of ensuring train safety at the same time. Due to the dependence on the train schedule, the work is completed as it is put into operation, ensuring the design speed.

Currently, the bid package to upgrade and expand Song Than and Di An stations is also being urgently implemented.

Once completed, the project will ensure traffic safety, improve the quality of railway infrastructure, and enhance passenger and cargo transport capacity.
