Seoul is eligible to become the eighth country of the G7 group.

Attending a conference organized by the Northeast Asian Research Foundation (NEAR) and the Korea Foundation (KF) in Seoul on December 6, Korean Foreign Minister Park Jin said that the Group of Seven (G7) needs the participation of countries with strong democracies and developed economies such as Korea and Australia.

According to Foreign Minister Park Jin, since its establishment, the Yoon Suk-yeol administration has expanded South Korea's international role and responsibility as the eighth country in the world with status and power on par with the G7 member countries.

Mr. Park Jin emphasized that Korea is in an ideal position as a country that plays a bridging role between developed and developing countries around the world.

Seoul's strategy, called the "Global Pillar National Vision - GPS", will help achieve the goal of protecting and expanding the international order based on freedom, democracy, human rights and the rule of law.

The workshop, organized by NEAR and KF with the theme “Where is the world going – the race for order in a fragmented world”, was attended by 42 diplomatic and security experts from 28 countries.
