LTS:
Choosing Dak Lak Newspaper to entrust their passion and expectations, the collaborators have brought many quality works to help the information on Dak Lak Newspaper be rich, diverse, timely and full of life, meeting the needs of readers.
I still remember clearly the afternoon more than 20 years ago, my hands were shaking when I opened the Dak Lak Weekend Newspaper delivered by the post office staff. That was the first time Dak Lak Newspaper published my work - the poem "Visiting Uncle Ho's Hometown" - on the occasion of the 102nd Birthday Anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh. My feelings at that time were hard to describe in words: I was touched, moved, and mixed with an indescribable pride.
From that moment on, I connected with my hometown newspaper and the relationship quietly grew over the years as I continued to convey my thoughts, reflections, and emotions through each page. There were articles I wrote right after my field trips, feeling the breath of the legendary basalt land, the sound of gongs ringing in the festival night, the fragrant scent of coffee flowers on the streets. There were articles I wrote during sleepless nights, when the country faced challenges, when people needed sharing and empathy. There were also articles that were just a flash of memory, a moment of emotion, but thanks to Dak Lak Newspaper, I had the opportunity to share them with readers near and far.
As a contributor, I am more aware of the preciousness of the opportunity to contribute a small part to the glorious but also challenging journalism career. Every time my articles are published in Dak Lak Newspaper as well as many other newspapers and magazines, I feel the happiness of being listened to and shared. That is the motivation for me to continue learning and practicing, not only to write correctly and well, but also to write with a pure heart and my civic responsibility.
In the era of strong digital media development, multi-dimensional and sometimes chaotic information, Dak Lak Newspaper still maintains its role as an official information channel, contributing to orienting public opinion, creating consensus in society, accompanying the provincial leaders in planning and implementing policies for economic development, culture, social security and national defense of the locality.
I am particularly impressed with the positive changes and innovations in both content and form in recent years of Dak Lak Newspaper. The content of the newspaper is increasingly profound, quickly and promptly reflecting current issues, life, feelings and aspirations of the people; the presentation is modern and attractive, especially the development of electronic newspapers, applying digital technology to reach readers faster and more effectively. This is a very encouraging signal in the context of digital transformation and multimedia communication taking place strongly nationwide. Hopefully, in the current digital transformation journey, Dak Lak Newspaper will grow strongly, becoming a modern multimedia newspaper, attracting a large number of readers, especially the young generation.
In April 2009, I went to Truong Sa to work on the 936 ship of the 4th Naval Region. This was a special group of artists and outstanding young people from all over the country. On the first night on the ship crossing the sea to Da Lon Island, I happened to read a copy of the Dak Lak Monthly brought by an officer of the Dak Lak Provincial Propaganda Department. Through the lens of a journalist, I saw that Dak Lak Newspaper reflected "deeply" about the land and people of the Central Highlands, but there were no seas or islands. I had the idea: "I will write a reportage about the seas and islands and send it to Dak Lak Newspaper to see what happens?".
Right after this trip, when the delegation held a memorial service for the 64 martyrs who died at Co Lin beach, I wrote a story, took photos and sent them to the editorial office.
I will never forget one afternoon in mid-June 2009. I was moved to tears when I received a newspaper as a gift from Dak Lak. I flipped through each page. Here it was, my work had been selected for publication by the editorial board. Reading it over and over again still moved me. The next morning, I brought the newspaper to the office to "show off" to my unit leader. My unit leader said: "Dak Lak is a Central Highlands province. If the images of the sea and islands, Truong Sa, DK1, navy, and fisheries surveillance are promoted in this newspaper, all the way to the villages of ethnic minorities, it would be a victory in the work of promoting the sea and islands. That is building the sea and island posture in the hearts of the people from awareness." Being encouraged by my unit leader, I felt like I had been given more strength.
I officially collaborated with Dak Lak Newspaper as a specialized reporter writing about the sea and islands. Based on the viewpoint of "writing what readers need, not what I have", I worked hard and the works were born one after another. Besides specialized reports about the sea and islands, I also wrote about love of life, social issues and readers' interests.
Each published article adds to my pride, and I am able to contribute my small part to promote the sea and islands, arouse the spirit of overcoming difficulties and hardships, encourage officers and soldiers of Truong Sa and DK1, help them love life more and hold their guns firmly at the forefront of the storm.
For me, writing is not only a profession but also a breath, a passion and a joy, and Dak Lak Newspaper is the land that contributes to nurturing and giving wings to my dream.
I was a professional driver, then switched to teaching driving, then came to journalism as a gift of words. And I write to repay life and make life more beautiful.
The first articles I chose to write about the fate of people around where I live, such as: "Two children with serious illnesses need help", written about two children with rare diseases, extremely difficult circumstances, with no medical expenses; the article "So that two fatherless children can continue to go to school" is also about the situation of two studious brothers with good academic performance, but difficult family circumstances cause them to face the risk of dropping out of school; the article "The pitiful situation of Y Loai Nie's mother and son" is written about the situation of a mother and son who have to live in a shabby hut with only enough space to spread a 1.4 m mat, without electricity!
All the articles published by Dak Lak Newspaper and my characters are supported by Dak Lak Newspaper and readers to overcome adversity. In the case of Y Loai Nie and her mother, the commune government also helped them build a house and provide them with livestock to help them rise up...
Next, I wrote a series of articles sharing experiences on safe driving that were trusted by Dak Lak Newspaper and well received by readers. Among them, the 4-part reportage series “Long-distance driving diary” and the 3-part reportage “The bitter taste of honey” were selected by Dak Lak Newspaper to be published, giving me more confidence and continuing to write articles praising good people, good deeds; the strong changes in the innovation process of my home province.
I cannot express all my impressions and feelings for Dak Lak Newspaper. From a worker with a high school diploma and a driver's license entering life with countless challenges, I stood up thanks to writing articles and became a regular contributor to Dak Lak Newspaper. Writing articles - for me - is like repaying life's favor and writing articles to make life more beautiful.
Ever since I was in school, I dreamed of becoming a journalist. However, due to circumstances, I had to put that dream on hold… However, every time I read the newspaper, the passion for writing flared up in me. Through research, I learned that besides the formally trained reporters with in-depth knowledge of the field of journalism, there is also a team of collaborators who are non-professional writers, whose articles reflect honestly and accurately the breath of life in places that the team of reporters cannot cover.
From then on, I rekindled my dream of writing for newspapers. To better understand how to write and structure an article, I often read news and articles published in Dak Lak Newspaper, a local newspaper but with very rich content, from current political commentary, reports, interviews, typical examples of progress in various fields; poetry, prose, essays, etc.
Once I grasped some basic points, I started practicing writing and boldly registered to become a contributor to Dak Lak Newspaper. In June 1995, under a dim light (my locality had electricity until 2002), I picked up a pen and wrote an article reflecting on the condition of the main road of Krong Bong district (Provincial Road 12 was still a dirt road at that time) which was severely damaged by dozens of heavy trucks carrying wood passing by every day, making it extremely difficult for people to travel... After a week of submitting the article (handwritten and sent by post), my article was selected for publication by the Editorial Board. The publication of the article gave me more motivation to continue writing...
Along with the development of the newspaper, I myself have to renew myself, always seek and approach new things... Through the years of collaborating with Dak Lak Newspaper, I have been trained a lot. News and articles sent by collaborators are filtered and edited by the editorial office, articles that do not meet the requirements are commented by the editor so that the collaborators can rewrite them with better quality. I learned many things that seem simple but they have equipped me with the skills that a writer needs to master. I understand more about what a writer should write? Who should he write for? How should he write? ...
After 30 years of working with Dak Lak Newspaper, now entering the age of “thất thập cổ lai hy”, whether I submit articles or not, I access Dak Lak Newspaper 1-2 times a day to grasp information in the province… I always hope that Dak Lak Newspaper – the newspaper that gave wings to my childhood dreams – will grow stronger and continue to receive the trust and love of readers.
