Thai Nguyen invests nearly 2,000 billion VND to ensure the lives of ethnic minorities

According to the People's Committee of Thai Nguyen province, as of August 2024, the whole province has over 384,000 ethnic minorities, accounting for nearly 30% of the population. Of the more than 50 ethnic minorities living and working in Thai Nguyen, 9 ethnic groups have over 2,000 people (Tay, Nung, San Diu, San Chay, Dao, Mong, Muong, Thai, Hoa).

To promote socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas according to Program 1719, period 2021 - 2025, Thai Nguyen province has allocated nearly 2,000 billion VND. This source is from the central budget and local budget, combining other resources for implementation.

By the end of 2023, Thai Nguyen province has allocated about 850 billion VND, supported more than 200 households to build houses, more than 500 households to receive decentralized domestic water support, built 12 centralized domestic water supply works; supported the development of many production models according to the value chain, creating livelihoods for people. At the same time, Thai Nguyen province has been building 222 new essential infrastructure works; maintaining and repairing 64 infrastructure works that were invested in previous years.

In 2024, the investment capital will reach over 645 billion VND, supporting residential land for 27 households, housing for 153 households, supporting domestic water for over 1,200 households, investing in the construction of 9 centralized domestic water works... Along with solving the shortage of arable land, Thai Nguyen province always focuses on developing production to create sustainable livelihoods for people in ethnic minority and mountainous areas.

Program No. 1719 helps create livelihoods for ethnic minorities in Thai Nguyen.

Program No. 1719 supports people to implement many effective models, bringing stable income to people. From there, each year, the number of poor households in ethnic minority and mountainous areas is reduced by 2%; 96% of ethnic minorities have access to clean water; and the shortage of residential and production land for people is basically resolved.
