Quang Ngai province issues urgent dispatch, directing to handle illegal sand mining

On August 16, the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province issued an urgent dispatch signed by Mr. Tran Phuoc Hien, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, directing the Quang Ngai Provincial Police to preside over a working session with Quang Ngai City, Tu Nghia District, and Son Tinh District to urgently verify, inspect the situation, and strictly handle the illegal sand mining situation on the Tra Khuc River.

Illegal sand mining on Tra Khuc River, Tinh Ha Commune, Son Tinh District (Quang Ngai)

Previously, Thanh Nien and several other press agencies reported the recurrence of illegal sand mining on the Tra Khuc River, along the communes of Nghia Lam, Nghia Ky, Nghia Thuan (Tu Nghia District), Tinh Ha (Son Tinh District) and the dam project downstream of the Tra Khuc River.

According to an urgent dispatch from the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province, to end illegal sand mining on the Tra Khuc River, although the province has issued many directives, this still occurs in some localities.

Therefore, this time, the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province requested the Provincial Police, after verifying the facts and working with the districts and cities, to report the results to the Provincial People's Committee before September 5.

On the afternoon of August 16, Mr. Tra Thanh Danh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai City, said that on the afternoon of August 15, when suddenly inspecting illegal sand mining sites in the communes of Tinh An Tay, Tinh An, Nghia Dong, Nghia Dung..., sand mining was still discovered here.

According to Mr. Danh, Quang Ngai City will use concrete piles firmly planted at the entrances and exits to the sandbanks, allowing only motorbikes of local people to travel, not other vehicles to enter.

According to Mr. Danh, to completely end the illegal sand mining situation in the area, Quang Ngai City is directing Quang Ngai City Police to monitor and compile records, and if there is sufficient evidence, criminal prosecution will be carried out according to regulations.
