Sharing with the press about French President Emmanuel Macron's visit to Vietnam, French Ambassador to Vietnam Olivier Brochet affirmed that this is an extremely important visit in the relationship between France and Vietnam.

The visit is part of a trip to three Southeast Asian countries by President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, including Vietnam, Indonesia and Singapore.

"During this visit to three Southeast Asian countries, the French President wishes to visit Vietnam first, clearly demonstrating the very special and strong relationship between France and Vietnam," said the French Ambassador.

Ambassador Oliver Brochet emphasized that last October, during General Secretary To Lam's visit to France, the two countries upgraded their relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership.

Eight months after General Secretary To Lam's visit, President Emmanuel Macron's state visit to Vietnam aims to reaffirm the strong development of bilateral relations as well as the good framework of relations that the two countries have established.

Ambassador Olivier Brochet also said that the French President's working program in Vietnam mainly includes meetings with senior leaders of Vietnam.

In addition, President Emmanuel Macron will have a number of other activities, especially at the Hanoi University of Science and Technology, also known as the Vietnam-France University. Here, the President will meet young people and students of the Hanoi University of Science and Technology and Vietnamese students participating in other French training programs, such as the French-Vietnamese management training program at the French-Vietnamese Center for Management Training (CFVG), or the high-quality engineering training program (PFIEV).

"The President will deliver a speech aimed at Vietnamese youth, emphasizing bilateral relations as well as the future partnership between our two countries, including the role of youth as well as France's support in research, training and innovation," the Ambassador said.

Along with that, another important agenda item during this visit is the methods for France to accompany and support Vietnam in implementing the energy transition process.

It is expected that a document will be signed between the French Development Agency (AFD) and the National Electricity Transmission Corporation to build the power transmission line. This project is within the framework of France's support to Vietnam to implement the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) mechanism.
