From today, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City will organize inspections of the beginning of the school year's collections, parent-teacher association fees, and sponsorship management.

The inspection will last for one month, until November 16. The Department will inspect all Departments of Education and Training, kindergartens and general schools in the area. Ho Chi Minh City has more than 2,300 schools, including more than 1,300 kindergartens, 520 primary schools, nearly 300 secondary schools and 204 high schools.

The contents to be inspected include the revenues at the beginning of the school year; the mobilization, reception, management and use of aid sources; and the operating budget of the parent-teacher association. The Department said that this activity aims to strengthen the inspection and supervision of the collection and expenditure activities at the beginning of the school year of schools, the mobilization of funding for education and the operating budget of the parent-teacher association.

"If any violations are discovered, the Department will transfer them to the inspectorate for handling according to regulations, with the spirit of handling the violations accordingly," Mr. Le Hoai Nam, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, told VnExpress on the morning of October 16.

The inspection team includes representatives from the Department, Division and specialized units. All kindergartens and primary schools are required to prepare relevant documents and send them to the inspection team three working days in advance.

Since the beginning of the school year, Ho Chi Minh City has received many complaints regarding revenue and expenditure issues. Hong Ha Primary School, Binh Thanh District, had to return nearly 250 million VND out of more than 260 million VND spent to parents of class 1/2 because "the process of mobilizing and spending revenue and expenditure was not in accordance with regulations".

Phuoc Long B Kindergarten, Thu Duc City, was reported by parents to have purchased expensive food. After this incident, the Department of Education and Training requested schools in the area to review food prices.
