This year, Thanh An Secondary and High School has 43 12th grade students taking the 2025 high school graduation exam. Of these, 19 candidates will take the exam at An Nghia High School, the remaining 24 candidates will take the exam at Binh Khanh High School (Can Gio district).
43 candidates from the only island commune in Ho Chi Minh City set off for the mainland on June 25.
Mr. Nguyen Minh Phuoc, Vice Principal of Thanh An Secondary and High School, said that the candidates departed for the mainland on the morning of June 25 and arrived safely. This is the 7th year the school has had students participate in this important exam.
"Similar to previous years, the participating students will travel to the mainland by boat and will be provided with accommodation for the 3 days of the exam at Binh Khanh Secondary School (Binh Khanh town, Can Gio district). At the same time, the school will also assign teachers in charge and Hoa Phuong Do soldiers to accompany the candidates," said Mr. Phuoc.
Major Nguyen Dinh Tan, Political Commissar of Thanh An Border Guard Station, said that the unit has been accompanying students in Thanh An island commune for many years. This year, in addition to financial support, the unit also coordinated with a volunteer group to organize cooking for teachers and 43 students at the unit.
To get to the mainland, candidates must travel by boat.
During the 2 days of the exam on the mainland, the unit will send staff to coordinate with the school to support the students in traveling, taking care of their health and arranging the best accommodation, helping them to confidently complete the exam.
This year, the 2025 high school graduation exam in Ho Chi Minh City has 171 exam locations, with 99,578 candidates registered to attend (an increase of 8,891 candidates compared to last year). Of which, 97,940 candidates will take the exam under the 2018 General Education Program and 1,638 candidates will take the exam under the 2006 General Education Program.
Thanh An island commune currently has nearly 5,000 households. In the 2024-2025 school year, the whole commune has 43 12th grade students. Of these, 3 are from Thieng Lieng hamlet (about 7 km from the commune center), they go to school by boat. Most of their families are in difficult circumstances.
