Implementing the expansion of the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh expressway section as an emergency project

The Government Office has just issued Document No. 6166/VPCP-CN conveying the direction of Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha on implementing the project to expand the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh expressway section under the emergency construction project.

Specifically, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha agreed with the proposal of the Ministry of Finance and the Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC) on implementing the project according to the procedures for urgent projects. The Deputy Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Finance and VEC to take full responsibility for the content of the report and commitment; organize the implementation of the project to ensure progress, quality, safety, and to avoid loopholes, corruption, group interests, causing loss and damage to state assets.

The project to expand the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh expressway has an investment scope to expand the route with a total length of nearly 22km.

The Ring Road 2 - Ring Road 3 viaduct section (Km4+000 - Km8+44.5) will be widened by 7.75m on each side to reach a scale of 8 lanes. The total width of the bridge is 42m, including 2 units. The section from Ring Road 3 to the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway intersection (Km8+44.5 - Km 25+920) will be expanded to a scale of 10 lanes.

The total preliminary investment of the project is about more than 15,337 billion VND. Of which, compensation, support and resettlement costs are more than 967 billion VND; construction costs are more than 11,116 billion VND; equipment costs are nearly 99 billion VND; project management, consulting and other costs are more than 1,126 billion VND; contingency costs are more than 1,980 billion VND.

The project is expected to start construction on August 19, 2025 and be basically completed in 2026.
