Kim Yo-jong also criticized the South Korean military for its response to North Korea's claim that South Korean drones had violated Pyongyang's skies at least three times recently, according to Reuters.

Earlier, on October 11, the North Korean Foreign Ministry accused South Korea of flying UAVs into Pyongyang at night this week and last week, and warned that such actions would be responded to.

"We are not interested in identifying the perpetrator of this drone provocation. However, we will make it clear that if a drone carrying any kind of anti-North Korean political propaganda garbage from South Korea crosses the line into our airspace again, we will retaliate with force, no matter what it is," Kim Yo-jong stressed.

In response, South Korean Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun said he could not confirm North Korea's accusation.

Kim Yo-jong said the South Korean military’s response to the drone incident proved that they were either the perpetrators or accomplices of the operation. She warned that South Korea should be prepared to pay the price for its continued provocations, saying a terrible disaster would ensue if the South Korean drone was detected again.

In another development, the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) accused North Korea of launching about 20 balloons from the night of October 11 to the morning of October 12 toward Seoul. Of these, about 10 fell in the inter-Korean border district of Cheorwon in Gangwon Province (South Korea).

The balloons contained household waste such as scrap paper and plastic, and no toxic substances were detected, the JCS said. This is the 28th time North Korea has sent balloons containing trash to South Korea since May, according to Yonhap.
