USD exchange rate today in the world
The US dollar hit a one-month high against the euro on Tuesday, following a series of trade deals between the US and major partners, while investors awaited interest rate decisions from the US Federal Reserve (Fed) and the Bank of Japan (BoJ).
US President Donald Trump on Sunday signed the biggest trade deal of the year with the European Union (EU), imposing a 15% import tariff on most EU goods and pledging $600 billion in investment from the bloc in the US. The deal surpasses the $550 billion deal signed with Japan last week, which also included a 15% reciprocal tariff.
On the same day, US and Chinese officials completed two days of negotiations in Stockholm. Although there was no clear breakthrough, the two sides agreed to extend the 90-day tariff truce that had been in place since mid-May.
In market action, the euro fell 0.39 percent against the dollar, trading around $1.154775, its lowest level since June 23. In the previous session, the common European currency fell as much as 1.29 percent, its biggest one-day drop since mid-May. If the current trend continues, the euro is on track to post its first monthly decline against the dollar this year.
“After a sharp decline in the first half of the year, the dollar started July with a bounce. The question now is whether this is a trend reversal or simply an overdue technical correction,” said Marc Chandler, managing director at Bannockburn Global Forex.
The DXY index rose 0.28% to 98.91 - its highest level since June 23. If it maintains this momentum, the DXY index will record its first positive month in 2025.
In terms of exchange rates, the USD fell slightly by 0.05% against the Japanese yen, to 148.465 yen/USD. In contrast, the USD increased by 0.28% against the Swiss franc, to 0.806 franc/USD.
