Ukraine owes IMF $13.8 billion

According to data from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Ukraine's loan from this financial institution has increased to 13.8 billion USD, making Kiev the second largest debtor of the IMF, after Argentina.

As of June 28, Ukraine owed the IMF $11.6 billion. The IMF has completed its fourth review of its financial assistance program for Kiev and approved an additional $2.2 billion in new assistance for Ukraine, bringing the total loan amount to $13.8 billion, surpassing Egypt.

The top five countries with the most debt to the IMF are Argentina, Ukraine, Egypt, Ecuador and Pakistan. Argentina owes $41.7 billion, Ukraine $13.8 billion, Egypt $13.6 billion, Ecuador $8.55 billion and Pakistan $8.4 billion. Angola, Colombia, Kenya, Ivory Coast and Bangladesh round out the top 10.
