On June 18, 2024 and June 20, 2024 in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, respectively, the University of Sydney officially introduced the University of Sydney Vietnam with the main mission of conducting multidisciplinary research in many fields, including medicine, agriculture , arts, social sciences, business... as well as launching Net Zero initiatives, aiming to create far-reaching impacts, towards prosperity for the two countries.

The University of Sydney Vietnam officially operates with its headquarters in Ho Chi Minh City and 2 offices in Hanoi and Can Tho.

In addition, at the Sydney Vietnam Innovation Science Conference, university leaders, researchers and scholars from Sydney and Vietnam discussed ways to strengthen partnerships in research, creativity and innovation. At the same time, the event also provided opportunities for the scientific community to exchange and connect.

The Australian Government and international donors have committed up to AUD 40-45 million in non-profit funding to the Institute. As a non-profit enterprise, all of the Institute's revenue will be used to invest in research activities in Vietnam.

The University of Sydney, the University of Sydney Vietnam and Bach Mai Hospital signed a Memorandum of Understanding.

Dr. Nguyen Ngo Quang - Acting Director of the Department of Science, Technology and Training, Ministry of Health said that the establishment of the Institute will contribute to strengthening cooperation in scientific research and technology development, innovation.

The University of Sydney Vietnam is expected to have great potential to promote cooperation, innovation and creativity, creating positive impacts not only in Vietnam but also beyond. With a commitment to enhancing global cooperation, the Institute will carry out excellent research projects with far-reaching impacts in society.
