On the occasion of Vietnam Cyber Security Day on August 6, Google and the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention ( Ministry of Public Security ) announced the initial results of the Online Fraud Prevention - Safer Campaign with the Ministry of Public Security and Google.
Accordingly, 72% of Android users in Vietnam are confident in their devices' anti-malware protection. Google Play's advanced anti-fraud protection has blocked nearly 7 million potentially malicious app installations on 1.6 million Android devices as of August 2025.
Additionally, the Government App Badge initiative, in partnership with Vietnamese authorities, has grown to feature more than 110 verified government apps, giving users the confidence to avoid impersonation scams.
The campaign also includes the launch of a series of educational videos and a Handbook to Prevent Online Fraud, along with updated social campaign statistics and Google’s enhanced fraud protection.
After just over a month of implementation, this initiative has attracted widespread response and created in-depth discussions, raising public awareness. In particular, the campaign has received active participation from content creators on many platforms, spreading the message to a large number of people.

Through nearly 200 multi-format videos posted across social media platforms, YouTube content creators shared their personal stories about fraud prevention and attracted more than 13 million views with nearly 500,000 interactions. The campaign attracted the attention of many content creators with a total following of millions.
In addition, a comprehensive guide to preventing and combating online fraud has been launched and shared publicly with everyone. This guide outlines the overall situation of online fraud in Vietnam, common forms of online fraud, and prevention and combat measures.
The guide also offers technology solutions from Google to help people stay safe online. The campaign has also launched a series of eight educational videos featuring experts from Google and the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention, to shed light on the seven most common types of fraud with practical advice.

"On Vietnam Cyber Security Day, we want to share significant progress in our partnership to help ensure a safe digital space for everyone. This joint effort is not just about technological solutions, but also about building trust and ensuring that every Vietnamese citizen has enough knowledge to confidently develop safely in the context of a vibrant digital economy, paving the way for a more resilient digital future," said Mr. Marc Woo - General Director of Google Vietnam.
According to a Google representative, the campaign’s initial success has clearly illustrated how the combination of technological innovation, expertise, and community engagement can strengthen the foundation of safety necessary for a healthy digital society. Google and the Ministry of Public Security are committed to continuing to build on the current platform, ensuring that all Vietnamese citizens have the tools and confidence to participate in online activities safely and effectively./
