The above events took place on the sidelines of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) Foreign Ministers' Retreat in the Indian capital New Delhi.

On social media X, Jaishankar said he held a trilateral meeting with Thai Foreign Minister Maris Sangiampongsa and his Myanmar counterpart Than Swe to “exchange views on border stability and humanitarian assistance.” He said the three countries would continue to cooperate on efforts to combat transnational crime, including cybercrime, illicit drugs and weapons, which are common priorities for the three countries.

Besides, Minister Jaishankar also said that the trilateral meeting also focused on connectivity projects “which are very important for the future of BIMSTEC”.

Earlier in the day, in his speech at the BIMSTEC Foreign Ministers' Retreat, Minister Jaishankar said that regional and global developments had forced the seven members of the group to "find more solutions for themselves".

BIMSTEC represents the intersection of India’s “Neighbourhood First” and “Act East” policies, with a particular focus on the Bay of Bengal, “where the potential for cooperation has long remained untapped,” he said. The two-day retreat will help prepare for the successful outcome of the BIMSTEC Summit in Thailand later this year.

On the X-Net, Mr. Jaishankar said the discussions at the BIMSTEC retreat focused on enhancing connectivity, institution building, trade cooperation, cooperation in health , space and digital public infrastructure.
