Minister of Industry and Trade: Do not hoard goods or increase prices during Tet

Faced with possible price fluctuations, the Minister of Industry and Trade requested the Departments of Industry and Trade of provinces, units under the Ministry, and enterprises and corporations to take measures to stabilize the market, to prevent hoarding, shortages, and disruptions in supply sources that could cause sudden price increases during the end of the year and the 2025 Lunar New Year.

Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien has just signed and issued a Directive on implementing solutions to ensure supply-demand balance and market stabilization at the end of 2024 and the Lunar New Year 2025.

The directive stated that this year the domestic economy has achieved some positive results. However, with escalating conflicts in many areas, fluctuations in the market of essential goods could negatively affect the economy. commodity market in the country in the coming time.

The average CPI in the first 9 months of the year increased by 3.88% over the same period last year, within the target set by the National Assembly on inflation control.

To ensure balance between supply and demand of essential goods, stabilize the commodity market at the end of 2024 and the Lunar New Year 2025, the Minister Ministry of Industry and Trade Propose that the Department of Industry and Trade of provinces, cities, units under the Ministry, corporations, general companies, companies and industry associations soon have: production and business plans; plans for supplying goods and handling unusual fluctuations in the market.

The Minister of Industry and Trade requested that there be no shortage of goods or disruption of supply sources causing sudden price increases during the end of the year and Lunar New Year.

Units need to closely monitor market developments, supply and demand of essential goods, especially those with high demand or high price fluctuations in the area to proactively develop plans or propose to competent authorities measures to ensure balance of supply and demand, stabilize the market, and avoid shortages or disruptions in supply that cause sudden price increases during the end of the year and Lunar New Year.

The Minister of Industry and Trade requested that units proactively advise the Provincial People's Committee on plans to prepare goods sources and reserve essential goods for Tet; and deploy measures to stabilize the market.

"Units need to coordinate with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and relevant agencies to closely monitor the production situation and the ability to restore production after natural disasters to supply essential agricultural products and food to the market at the end of the year and during Tet; have plans to ensure supply and stabilize the market for agricultural products and food...", the Minister of Industry and Trade suggested.

To promote the consumption of Vietnamese goods, the Minister of Industry and Trade requested units to deploy activities to implement the campaign "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods", bringing Vietnamese goods to rural areas, industrial zones and clusters in combination with fairs, promotions, discounts, and consumer stimulus programs.
