HAGL reunites with Dusit

At 5:00 p.m. today (August 6), HAGL will play a friendly match with Kanchanaburi Club in Thailand. Kanchanaburi is a new player in the Thai League, coached by Mr. Dusit Chalermsan, a former member of HAGL.

Former Thai national team player Dusit Chalermsan has an unforgettable relationship with HAGL, having played for the mountain town team as both a player and head coach. Along with his compatriot Kiatisak Senamuang, Dusit Chalermsan was a member of the golden generation of HAGL that won the V-League in 2003, 2004 and the National Super Cup in 2003, 2004.

Although he came to HAGL at the twilight of his career, at the age of 33, Dusit still left a brilliant mark at Pleiku Arena with 89 matches and 7 goals. Dusit's flamboyant playing style combined with his "hot-blooded" spirit gave wings to HAGL to step into the most brilliant period in the club's history, when Mr. Duc's team won every match and became the king of Vietnamese football for 2 consecutive seasons.

After leaving HAGL in 2007, Dusit returned to Thailand to play for another year before hanging up his boots at the age of 38. Dusit was also a mainstay of the Thai team during the period when the "War Elephants" dominated Southeast Asian football from the late 1990s to the early 2000s. During that time, Dusit and his teammate Kiatisak repeatedly defeated the Vietnamese team in the biggest tournament in Southeast Asia.

After retiring, his loyalty to HAGL and Mr. Duc urged Dusit to return to Vietnam soon after, to coach the mountain town team in the 2008-2009 and 2011 seasons.

Dusit Chalermsan has led many Thai teams such as BG Pathum United, PT Prachuap, but the peak of the former HAGL player was the 2021 season, when he turned Pathum into a formidable force in Thai football with the 2020 - 2021 Thai League championship. Unfortunately, Dusit later left Pathum because he did not have an AFC Pro license, the minimum requirement for him to take charge of the team in the 2022 AFC Champions League.

HAGL's memorable training trip

The match against Kanchanaburi FC is HAGL's fourth match during their training trip to Thailand. Previously, coach Le Quang Trai and his team faced Prime Bangkok FC (2-2), PT Prachuap (2-2) and Kasem Bundit University FC (1-2).

The young players under the guidance of Mr. Le Quang Trai have all been given the opportunity to try their hand and are gradually asserting themselves. The days of training under the heat in Thailand were the first "test" that technical director Vu Tien Thanh and coach Le Quang Trai gave the players.

The whole team was also trained in physical strength, endurance, one-on-one fighting ability and team-keeping skills to prepare for the harsh season of V-League 2025 - 2026. After saying goodbye to many key players such as Minh Vuong, Bao Toan, Quang Nho, Van Son, Ngoc Quang... HAGL has renewed its force, promoting many young players from HAGL Academy to the first team to create a new breeze for the challenges ahead.
