Improving climate change adaptation livelihoods for coastal people

Specifically, from August 2023 to July 2026, the project will implement many activities in Truong Long Hoa and Long Toan communes of Duyen Hai town and Ngu Lac commune of Duyen Hai district. The improvement of production focuses on enhancing the capacity of local people in sustainable production and adaptation to climate change, applying modern knowledge and technology, meeting the standards of clean and safe products to meet market demand.

In the field of crop and aquaculture, the project will support professionalization of production and business, trade promotion and market linkage, thereby increasing income for local value chain actors. Through its activities, the project will enhance women’s capacity in business and support women’s economic development along the value chain.

According to Mr. Pieter Spaarman - Country Director of SNV Vietnam, the Community Development Project will improve the lives of hundreds of households in Duyen Hai town and Duyen Hai district, Tra Vinh province in the next 3 years, especially for women and Khmer ethnic minorities. In addition, cooperation with local authorities at all levels is extremely important. Right from the design stage, SNV always ensures that the project is consistent with the development plan and strategy in the coming years in Tra Vinh .

The project will enhance women's capacity in business and support women's economic development along the value chain.

Representing the agricultural sector of Tra Vinh province, Mr. Le Van Dong, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Tra Vinh province, affirmed that he will closely coordinate with SNV and related agencies, and accompany the people to implement the project. The objectives are very suitable for practical conditions and meet the support needs of the province.

Activities focus on enhancing the capacity of local people in sustainable production and climate change adaptation

The Tra Vinh Community Development Project is a continuation of the 2022 clean water supply and environmental sanitation project. Previously, SNV and its partners supported more than 1,200 households to connect to existing and expanded pipelines in 4 communes in Duyen Hai town and Duyen Hai district. The results have contributed to significantly improving water resources in areas affected by coastal wind power development activities in the area.
